The Psychological Reinforcing Factors of the Palestinian Political Division

Abstract:

The study aims at identifying the most important psychological factors such as: accepting the other – mutual trust – tolerance of the other – political will – self-love, which reinforce the ongoing Palestinian political division of the political elites of the two division parties from the point of view of the teaching staff members of the universities of Al-Azhar, The Islamic, and Al-Aqsa, according to a number of variables. The sample conducted is made up of 166 members representing a percentage of 13.06% of the original community. 

The most important results: The average agreement of accepting the suggested items in the fields as a whole from the point of view of the sample members was 67.56% which is less than the virtual average of the questionnaire that was 120. The relative weight of the dimensions as a whole is 33.78%. On studying which of the dimensions is more under focus as far as the factors reinforcing the division are concerned, they were arranged top-down to be: self-love, political will, endurance with the other, accepting the other, mutual trust. No differences with statistical significance were found among the teaching staff members of the Palestinian universities in Gaza in terms of their vision of the factors reinforcing the on-going Palestinian political division attributed to the variable of the specialization Scientific/human, the variable of the university (Al-Azhar – Al-Aqsa – The Islamic) and the political belonging (Fateh – Hamas – Al-Jihad Al-Islami – People’s Front – The Democratic Front – Independent).
