Abstract:

The goal of the research is to verify the extent of implementing governance in the higher education institutes of the University of Aleppo located in the liberated areas. The analytical descriptive approach is applied to a sample of 67 persons randomly selected as members of the staff enrolled in different sectors of the faculty of Economics, instructing. administrative, and higher-study students. Data are gathered by means of a questionnaire of 58 provisions tackling the fields of participation, transparency, justice, accountability, competence and efficiency. The results of the statistical analysis showed that the university fell short of applying 17 out of the 58 provisions. It also showed that there are disparities of averages of assessments on the part of the members of the sample related to age. It, moreover, showed out the commitment of the university to the requirements of governance to each aspect individually, and to governance generally. The study proposes to improve the application of governance in the University of Aleppo located in the liberated areas through reconsidering the provisions ignored.
