Abstract

The current research aims to identify the behavioral problems of visually impaired children in light of certain classification variables. The study sample consisted of fifty (50) visually impaired students from “Al-Qulub Al-Mubsira School” (The Insightful Hearts) in Idlib, who were selected through purposeful sampling. To achieve the targeted objectives, the researchers prepared a questionnaire consisting of thirty (30) items addressing the behavioral problems of students with visual impairments. The questionnaire included the following dimensions: isolation and shyness, chaotic or stereotypical behavior, dependent behavior, aggression, and hyperactivity. The researchers embraced a descriptive analytical approach. The research resulted in:

  • Significant differences were found in the behavioral problems experienced by visually impaired children, with the following order of problems: dependent behavior, chaotic or stereotypical behavior, isolation and shyness, hyperactivity, and aggression.
  • No statistically significant differences were found in the behavioral problems of visually impaired students based on the severity of the disability (partial / total).
  • Statistically significant differences were found at the (0.05) level between the average scores of males and females in the overall score, endorsing females based on the gender variable.
  • Statistically significant differences were found at the (0.05) level in isolation and shyness behavior, endorsing females.
  • No statistically significant differences were found at the (0.05) level between the average scores of males and females in chaotic or stereotypical behavior, dependent behavior, aggressive behavior, and hyperactivity.
