Abstract

The aim of the study was to identify the level of future anxiety among youth with visual, auditory, and motor disabilities—specifically mild to moderate cases. It also aimed to examine the differences in future anxiety levels according to the variables of marital status (single vs. married), severity of disability (mild vs. moderate), and type of disability (visual, auditory, motor).

The researcher used the Future Anxiety Scale developed by Zeinab Shaqeer (2005), after confirming its validity and reliability. The study sample consisted of 168 young individuals selected through convenience sampling.

Findings:

– The level of future anxiety among the study participants was high.

– Statistically significant differences were found in future anxiety levels based on marital status, with single youth showing higher anxiety than married ones.

– Significant differences were found based on disability severity, with youth having moderate disabilities reporting higher anxiety than those with mild disabilities.

– Statistically significant differences were found based on type of disability, with higher anxiety levels among those with auditory and motor disabilities compared to those with visual disabilities. No significant differences were found between auditory and motor disabilities.

Key words: Future anxiety, youth with disabilities, auditory disability, visual disability, motor disability, northern Syria.
