Abstract

study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a specially designed training program in developing auditory perception skills among children with hearing impairments as well as to examine the extent to which the effects of this program persist over time, the study sample consisted of 40 children with hearing impairments who attend special education centers in the city of Tripoli and were selected based on specific criteria that ensured homogeneity in characteristics relevant to the study, the study employed a quasi-experimental design with two groups an experimental group and a control group, the researcher used an auditory perception test to measure performance levels at the pretest posttest and follow-up stages in addition to implementing a training program developed specifically to enhance the auditory perception skills of the participating children, For data analysis a set of statistical methods appropriate to the nature of the study’s hypotheses was used including arithmetic mean standard deviation Pearson correlation coefficient Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient Mann-Whitney test independent samples t-test and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test, the results of the study revealed statistically significant differences between the mean ranks of the experimental and control groups in the posttest in favor of the experimental group indicating the effectiveness of the training program Statistically significant differences were also found within the experimental group between the pretest and posttest scores on the auditory perception test in favor of the posttest while no statistically significant differences were found between the posttest and follow-up scores of the experimental group indicating the lasting impact of the training program over time.
