Ego strength as a modified variable of the relationship between psychological stress and psychological problems among university students

Abstract

The aim of the research was to find out the role of ego strength as a modified variable of the relationship between psychological pressures and psychological problems among university students. The two researchers followed the descriptive method. The research sample consisted of (300) students from the Universities of northern Syria selected by a simple random method. The researchers used the ego strength scale prepared by Barron (Barron, 1953); translation of Kafi (1982, citing Hebron, 2011); the psychological stress scale prepared by Dukhan and Al-Hajjar (2006), consisting of 57 items distributed into 7 dimensions; and the psychological preparation of the two researchers, consisting of 48 items distributed into 12 dimensions. 

The research found that there is a positive role of ego strength in modifying the relationship between psychological pressures and psychological problems in the individuals of the research sample.
