Quality of Exam Questions Issued by the Syrian Universities in the North at Times of Crises

Abstract:

The research aims at identifying the quality of exam questions offered by the Syrian universities located in the north area, and verifying the differences in quality based on the variables of the university and the faculty. To meet the goal of the research, a list of QA standards proved fair and consistent was adopted. The randomly selected stratified sample of the research contains 91 exam papers issued by the universities of Cham, Free Aleppo, Gaziantep branch of Afrin, in the second term of the academic year 2020-2021. Relying on the list of standards adopted, and following the descriptive and analytical approach, the scholars analyzed the questions and found out that:

1-    The exam questions issued by the universities engaged levelled average according to Quality Standards in general.

2-    The questions were organized according to the quality standards as follows: essay questions ranked high, followed by multiple choice and true/false questions respectively with a high ranking. Tag, matching, arrangement and drawing questions levelled low. 

3-    No statistically significant MLA disparities found as far as the three universities are concerned. If found between the Faculty of Education and the rest of the faculties available, it is in favor of the Faculty of Education.
