Abstract

The paper aims to trace the relationship between the work pressures met by the women recruited in the higher education field and the influence of the family atmosphere in the north of Syria. The descriptive analytical approach is applied; 60 working women recruited in the universities of Aleppo and Idlib are selected intentionally as study sample to whom a questionnaire of work pressures, prepared by Faraj Taha and Alsayid Raghib in 2010, is applied according to family atmosphere scale prepared by Mohamed Bayoumi Khalil in 2000, after checking the fairness and consistency of both of them. The results are as follows:

  • There is an inverse relationship between work pressures and family atmosphere. The more the pressures are, the less effective the family atmosphere is.
  • No differences of statistical significance found in the average score of the sample members on work pressure scale according to the variable of social status and place of residence.
  • Differences of statistical significance found in the average score of the family atmosphere scale according to the variable of social status in favor of the single working woman.
  • No differences of statistical significance found in the average score of the samplee members on the family atmosphere scale according to the variable of place of residence.

Key words: work pressures – family atmosphere – working woman – higher education
