The Essential Dimensions of Personality of the Students Enrolled in the University of Aleppo in the liberated areas according to Costa & Mcrae Scale in relation to Certain Variables

Abstract:

The paper aims to identify the essential dimensions of personality of the students of the University of Aleppo in the liberated areas and the relationship with some variations. The two scholars used the scale of Costa & Mcrae (1992) translated by Al-Ansari. The study depended on the descriptive analytical approach. The sample of study constituted of 170 students enrolled in the University of Aleppo in the liberated areas. The results of the study were:

  1. The dimensions of personality of the study sample successively were: 1) conscientiousness; 2) openness to experience; 3) extroversion; 4) goodness; 5) neuroticism
  2. No differences of statistic significance found in relation to the variable of gender in the dimensions of personality.
  3. Differences of statistic significance found between the average scores of students of theoretical faculties and those of applied faculties in the dimension of openness to experience in favor of the applied faculties.
  4. Differences of statistic significance found among students of Sharia and those of education in the dimensions of extroversion and neuroticism in favor of students of education.
  5. Differences of statistic significance found in the average scores of students of Sharia and those of engineering (Informatics and Megatronics) in the dimension of openness to experience in favor of engineering students.
